Formation of TANSI
The Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation Limited, popularly known as TANSI, was formed in the year 1965 (vide G.O.Ms.No. 1895, Industrial Spl. dated 1.4.1965) to take over from the Government, to begin with 64 departmental small-scale units with net assets amounting to Rs.668.612 lakhs.
Initially, these industrial units were started under the Plan periods under the control of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce for non-commercial purposes such as:-
- to serve as Training cum Demonstration Centres
- to provide infrastructure for the development of industries and
- to ensure dispersal of economic growth.
As it was considered that the role of training played by them was over, Small Scale Industries have come of age and no more such training is needed, all these training cum production units were brought under TANSI as manufacturing units.
TANSI was the first Corporation in the country to establish its presence in the small industries sector.
TAPAP a subsidiary company of TANSI manufacturing a wide range of high quality paints and allied products under brand name of “ARASU”.
